What Our Toolkit Addresses:

This toolkit will:

  • Provide guidance on how to take charge of your organization’s DEI efforts.
  • Highlight strategies to support transparency in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Underscore the importance of establishing metrics and tracking KPIs to measure success.
  • Spotlight SFA member companies that are creating inclusive workplaces.

“DEI strategies like all important business strategies are necessary to set a roadmap for transparency and success. DEI strategic goals should have buy-in at the highest levels; reflect specific, measurable and sustainable goals; have a plan to track successes and challenges; and determine communication channels within the organization.”

Aisha Greene, Director of Attorney Development and Training, Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP

Building a Roadmap: SFA Members in Action

Implementing DEI into a business strategy is beneficial towards the retention of diverse employees but should always be done through a lens of intersectionality.

  • By focusing on intersectionality, you can better assess the needs of diverse employees and clients, while also recognizing that our inherent differences can be our greatest strength.
  • Companies should use DEI metrics to better allocate resources towards marginalized groups within their workforce.

Which DEI Metrics Matter Most?

  • 54% of companies from a Syndio report claimed their DEI programs have become a much higher priority since 2020. Track dollars allocated to recognize whether the funding is significant enough to make an impact, or consistent enough to remain stable.
  • Keeping track of the number of diverse employees within a company is a good start to building a DEI roadmap; however, it must also come with being cognizant of the percentage of diverse employees in positions of leadership.
  • Buy-in from senior leadership is required when building any DEI roadmap. It is important to keep track of leadership attendance of DEI events, as well as note when leaders sponsor or co-chair ERGs.
