Last week, SFA, alongside 11 financial trade associations, submitted a letter to the SEC requesting an extension to the comment period for the recently reproposed rule on Conflicts of Interest in Securitizations. The current deadline for comments is March 27, 2023. However, given the scope of the proposed rule, SFA requested an extension until June 24, 2023. The letter notes that while the joint trades appreciate the SEC’s efforts to implement the statute, the broad scope and structure of the reproposed rule carries the potential for adverse impacts, not only for securitization participants but for the broader economy.
