Roles & Responsibilities
Analyze credit aspects of US ABS including autos, student loans, credit card, unsecured consumer loan ABS, etc. Provide analysis of the underlying assets, liability structure, deal-level financial modelling using Moody’s in-house models, Excel or other models and statistical packages to formulate and substantiate independent credit opinions. Serve as the lead ratings analyst for transactions, monitor industry conditions and trends, present transactions to rating committees, communicate analysis during internal meetings, identify and write accurate and relevant credit research, and actively contribute to fostering a culture of excellence at Moody’s. Participate in internal and external events such as panels, webinars and conferences, representing the COS ABS team. Evaluate bond indentures and other operating documents in order to understand implications on credits and develop cash-flow modelling and sensitivity analysis. Develop Moody’s franchise through intermediary visibility initiatives by engaging with issuers and investors and presenting Moody’s views at industry conferences and to the media. Complete various special projects including research, train and mentor junior members of the supporting teams, develop in-depth knowledge of the ABS sector and pursue thought leadership initiatives to enhance our analytics and research impact. Write in-depth, high quality, insightful and focused research on credit issues affecting specific asset class or issuer and contribute to methodology projects.
Professional Experience, Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or related quantitative field plus 4 years of experience working for a credit ratings agency or large financial services firm.
- Must have experience with the following: performing credit analysis of consumer ABS and/or structured finance transactions and conducting quantitative financial modeling and statistical analysis; presenting credit analyses internally and externally; and analyzing deal documents and authoring credit opinions, issuer analyses, or internal research memos.
