The Wall Street Journal reports a recent split within the central bank as to future monetary policy. The Federal Reserve cut rates .25 basis points in September and again in October, with the current range sitting between 3.75% and 4%. As the government shutdown halted the release of up-to-date economic reports, and inflation in the U.S. remains above the Federal Reserve’s target of 2%, it is unknown whether officials will cut rates during their December meeting.
