Following President Donald Trump’s inauguration, economists polled by the Wall Street Journal adjusted their inflation forecasts for 2025 and 2026. Compared to the October 2024 survey, the consensus forecasts for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased from 2.3 percent to 2.7 percent for 2025 and from 2.3 percent to 2.6 percent for 2026. Economists also expect the Federal Reserve to keep interest rates higher than previously expected.
