At a European Central Bank conference on July 1, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell highlighted the Fed’s ‘wait-and-see’ stance with regards to future interest rate reductions. Powell stated that the Fed will observe the effects that rising tariffs have on prices and growth ahead of any interest rate decisions. While inflation has notably declined over the past two years, it has remained elevated just above the Fed’s 2 percent target.
