SFA Submits Letter to GSEs in Response to Their Proposed Single-Family Social Index 

On January 5, 2023, on behalf of our investor members SFA submitted a letter to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the GSEs) in response to their proposed single-family Social Index. The Index is a scoring system comprised of three dimensions – income, borrower, and property characteristics – that will allow investors to identify pools of single-family loans that meet certain social criteria. SFA commends Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for balancing investors’ need for reporting and disclosing ESG data while prioritizing borrower privacy. Further SFA investors reinforced their need for additional transparency and granularity into the individual social metrics within the GSEs Social Index while recognizing the challenges facing certain reporting metrics due consumer privacy requirements.  Read more.
