In a November 18 presentation on X, Bill Ackman – Pershing Square Capital Management founder – stated that the Treasury should not sell-off its share of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the GSEs), at the moment. Rather, Ackman proposed the Treasury should exercise its 79.9% warrants in both companies and re-list them on the NYSE, which he posits would allow the Trump administration to take steps sooner. The Trump administration has discussed an IPO of the GSEs as early as 2026, which some market participants deem as too early.
