Senate Takes Another Step Towards Institutional Investor Ban

On March 2, the Senate voted 84-6 to invoke cloture on its newest housing legislation, allowing the upper chamber to move ahead with a vote to approve the entire package and send to the House. The bill includes language to prohibit large investors from purchasing single-family homes, specifically investors who own 350 or more homes. The White House has expressed its support for this version of the housing package.
