Private Credit Funds Attract Individual Investors as Institutional Investors Pullback

With large institutions pulling capital from private credit funds, individual investors in Europe and the U.S. are increasingly filling the gap. Americans have invested $49 billion, and Europeans have invested nearly €24 billion, into these funds during the first half of 2025. Individual investors have access to funds from multiple sponsors, with individual investor inflows remaining stable, even during recent market volatility. The rise in the number of private credit funds has increased competition, putting pressure on generating larger returns.
