Senators Bernie Sanders (D-VT) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) are working on legislation that would amend the Truth in Lending Act and put a cap on credit card interest rates until 2031. In 2023, credit card interest rates averaged 22.8 percent, the highest level since 1994.
