The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs held a hearing on September 12, with SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, titled “Oversight to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission”. Democrats praised Gensler for his oversight and banking enforcements, and questioned Gensler as to the timeline of the SEC’s climate disclosure proposal. Republicans focused their criticisms on the pace of the SEC’s recent rulemakings, the lack of adequate comment periods and transparency into the agency. Chair Gensler is scheduled to appear before the House Financial Services Committee on September 27.
