Volunteer Opportunities With Junior Achievement of Greater Washington

Have volunteer time to use before the end of the year? Consider supporting local middle school students by volunteering with Junior Achievement of Greater Washington. You’ll be helping students develop the skills they need to make sound financial decisions in the real world.

JA BizTown

Volunteer Role: Volunteers assist 4-7 students in one of the 14 businesses in JA BizTown, guiding them with their business and job-related responsibilities throughout the day while sharing personal stories of work experience. Volunteers receive a brief training on the morning of their volunteer day to review the simulation, volunteer and student roles, and helpful tips for creating a successful day. No advanced prep work is required.

Volunteer Time: 8:30AM – 2:00PM

JA BizTown needs volunteer groups of a minimum of 14 and can accommodate up to 28.

JA Finance Park

Volunteer Role: Volunteers serve as mentors to a group of 6-10 middle/high school students, guiding them through the day and facilitating conversations about real-life decision-making. Along the journey, you will coach them through a budgeting activity, share stories of your education and work experience while encouraging wise consumer choices. This one-day, high-impact experience includes volunteer training prior to student arrival and lunch. No advanced prep work is required.

JA Career Workshops

Volunteer Role: Volunteers serve as table coaches, guiding small groups of high school students through a series of hands-on activities that build essential career skills while sharing insight into your industry and world of work. All materials are provided by JA, and volunteers receive a brief orientation prior to student arrival. No advanced prep work is required.

Volunteer Time: 9:00AM – 1:30PM

JA Inspire Career Fairs

Volunteer Role: Volunteers engage with middle school students at our signature career fairs. Your company will be assigned a table where you and your colleagues can showcase equipment or tools you as an employee use on the job, answer students’ questions about the company, the industry, your work, educational path, and more! Volunteer materials provided.

Women’s Future Leadership Forum

Volunteer Role: Encourage high school participants to learn, get involved, and network through interactive small-group mentoring giving the next generation of female leaders the confidence and skills to dream big. Female volunteers are encouraged, but not required. No advanced prep work is needed.
