Chair Powell Testifies Before Congress

On June 24 and 25, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell testified before the House Financial Services Committee and the Senate Banking Committee. In both hearings, Chair Powell touched on similar themes such as challenges in the labor market, changes to Fed supervision, and how tariffs are impacting the Federal Reserve’s economic forecasting and inflationary pressure. Housing affordability and the role of interest rates in the overall housing crunch were also discussed.
