According to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics economic report released on December 16, the U.S. unemployment rate climbed to 4.6% in November from 4.4% in September – the highest U.S. unemployment rate in over 4 years. The economy gained 64,000 jobs in November but lost 105,000 jobs in October, according to the delayed government report. Economists are of the mind that the jobs report, while soft, was not distressed enough to warrant another Fed rate cut in January, pending the release of another Labor Department jobs report in January.
