According to American Banker, Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director Bill Pulte stated on Monday that the decision to end the GSE’s conservatorship must come from the President. Director Pulte has been working towards improving the efficiency of the GSEs to increase their worth and make them more attractive for privatization. Following those remarks, President Trump messaged on Wednesday evening that he is “giving very serious consideration to bringing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac public”, although details of what that entails remain unclear.
