During an interview on Mornings with Maria, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that all the big banks will play a role in the potential sale of a partial stake of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Secretary Bessent also noted that he is determined not to disrupt the structure of the US mortgage market and mortgage spreads. When asked about the size of the deal, Bessent said that selling a 3 – 6 percent stake could raise $30 billion or more.
