Structured Finance Association Welcomes Scott Frame as New Chief Economist and Head of MBS Policy

The Structured Finance Association (SFA), a leading trade association representing the structured finance and securitization industry, today announced that Dr. Scott Frame has joined the organization as Chief Economist and Head of MBS Policy. In this role, Dr. Frame will serve as SFA’s principal economist and utilize his years of expertise to provide strategic guidance that drives the association’s economic policy analysis.

With his more than 20 years of experience in financial research and policy and his extensive knowledge of the securitization landscape, he is uniquely suited to navigate public policy issues, build relationships across the country, and provide strategic guidance as we continue our work to improve and strengthen the broader structured finance and securitization market.”

Scott is the perfect person to guide the Association’s macroeconomic analysis and engagement as SFA’s first Chief Economist,” said SFA President Kristi Leo.  “We are confident that policymakers and the structured finance community will greatly benefit from his thought leadership, insights, and invaluable expertise.  With his leadership added to the strong capabilities we have already on the team, we look forward to building upon SFA’s well-earned reputation for crafting workable solutions across all market stakeholders, legislators, and policymakers.

Dr. Frame comes to SFA after serving in various leadership roles for the Federal Reserve.  He most recently was at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, where he served as Vice President for financial research.

“I am honored to join the Structured Finance Association and work to help ensure we maintain a robust securitization market,” said Dr. Frame.  “Over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to work with the leadership team at SFA and with many of its members in various capacities and couldn’t be more excited to be supporting their work which is fundamental to the health of our financial markets.

Dr. Frame has published in many scholarly journals and is currently an associate editor of the Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, the Journal of Financial Services Research, and the Journal of Financial Research. He has also previously served as executive director of the International Banking, Economics, and Finance Association (IBEFA), past president of both IBEFA and the Southern Finance Association, and on the board of directors of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association and the Financial Management Association.

Dr. Frame received his doctorate in economics in 1996 and his master’s degree in economics in 1993, both from the University of Georgia. He received his Bachelor of Science in economics in 1990 from Arizona State University.
