SEC Commissioner Mark Uyeda has emphasized the need for a potential re-proposal of their 2022 proposal related to climate disclosure, if the final rule is to substantially deviate from the SEC’s original. Uyeda’s remarks come amidst the emergence of related disclosure rules in California and the European Union. If the SEC were to
re-propose this rule, it could delay finalization of the rule until well into 2024.
