Job Description:

Capitolis is looking for a Director, Structuring to join our Capital Marketplace Structuring team. Capital Marketplace Structuring is comprised of experts in incubation, negotiation, structuring, and launching of complex and targeted solutions using capital market instruments. As such, the group is continuously developing and iterating a variety of new business opportunities and delivering solutions in strong collaboration with clients and all relevant internal Capitolis units.

The Director will leverage their depth of experience of structured products and funding solutions as well asthe related tax, regulatory, accounting and legal frameworks to work along with other members of the Capital Marketplace Structuring team to drive the structuring and support the go-to-market planning for Capitolis’ Capital Marketplace solutions. The ideal candidate is a relentlessly scrappy, results-oriented, conceptual yet practical team player with exceptional client and stakeholder management capabilities.

The Director, Structuring will report to the Head of Capital Marketplace Structuring and Execution and will be located in our New York City HQ, one block from Grand Central and across from Bryant Park.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a member of the Capital Marketplace Structuring team, collaborating with team members to drive the conceptualization and realization of new structured financing solutions and products.
  • Structure scalable solutions to unite risk originators and capital providers.
  • Consider all relevant aspects (tax, accounting, regulatory, economic, bankruptcy, wrappers, etc.) in structuring solutions from initial design, feasibility analysis, and through to launch.
  • Drive extended solution development processes in close collaboration with our key clients; own these discussions during development and commercially drive to execution and work with relevant Capitolis teams to drive go-to-market and launch.
  • Create and assess economic models related to structured solutions.
  • Create internal and external materials to facilitate and engender institutional adoption of these solutions.
  • Where relevant, interface with external resources (tax advisors, regulatory advisors, rating agencies, placement agents, etc.) during the structuring process.
  • Work with internal and external counsel to establish, document and register any solution components.
  •  Collaborate with internal teams (the rest of Capital Marketplace structuring, sales, product, legal execution, operations, investor relations etc.) to create go-to-market plans across all fronts, including identification and incorporation of 3rd party service providers.

 

Professional Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of structuring and/or relevant legal experience
  •  Experience with a broad range of rating agency structured product methodologies (e.g., ABCP, derivatives products, CLO, etc.)
  • High IQ and EQ individual; can effectively communicate and tailor messages to a wide array of audiences including internal and external stakeholders, experts, peers, and leaders
  • Creative thinker with ability to translate vague ideas into practical solutions; ability to create and drive agendas to bring these solutions to market
  • Self-starter who takes initiative, values impact over effort and is motivated to drive performance
  • Practical and flexible team player who can adjust to rapidly changing environments and priorities
