Basel III Reproposal Released

On March 19, Federal regulators issued a set of proposals that would lower capital requirements for banks of all sizes. The release follows a March 12 speech by Federal Reserve Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman, who outlined plans to adjust U.S. bank capital requirements to better reflect actual risks in the final phase of Basel III. Bowman stated that forthcoming proposals will aim to streamline stress testing, leverage ratios, and risk‑based standards to strengthen resilience while better supporting the real economy.
