Rental Homes Constructed at Record Pace in 2023

A record 93,000 single-family rental homes were constructed in 2023, with rental developers capitalizing on low levels of housing affordability. High home prices are forcing would-be homebuyers to continue renting. 99,000 new rental homes are planned for construction in 2024, though these projects are slowing due to tighter lending conditions.
