The National Association of Realtors (NAR) has agreed to settlement terms in litigation over how buyers’ agents are paid in the sale of residential property. Under the proposal, buyers’ agents would need to present services and fees to consumers up front, no longer splitting a standard sales commission with listing agents at the settlement table. If approved by a federal court, the settlement would resolve wide-ranging legal exposure for the industry from similar antitrust lawsuits.
