Dan Grattan
Global Head of Advocacy
With 24 years of professional experience, Dan Grattan most recently served as as Senior Vice President for Federal Government Relations at Regions, a Birmingham, Alabama based regional financial institution. In this role, he was responsible for much of the bank’s advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill and managed a broad portfolio of issues facing financial institutions in the legislative and regulatory arenas.
Grattan joined Regions in 2020 from the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) where he served as Associate Vice President for Legislative and Political Affairs. At MBA, Grattan was responsible for advocacy relating to real estate finance issues, including significant legislation on regulatory relief, tax reform, and the COVID-19 pandemic response, among other items.
Prior to MBA, Grattan served as Vice President of Strategy and Capital Markets for Annaly Capital Management where he was also Head of Government Relations. Grattan previously served as a consultant and Director of Business Development for The McNamara Group, a boutique financial services consulting firm in New York. He began his career as a commercial real estate salesperson in the Washington, D.C. area and also coached men’s lacrosse at the NCAA level at his alma mater.
Grattan is a frequent public speaker on the intersection of finance and politics, and has been named to the “Top Lobbyists” list by The Hill each of the past five years. He holds a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia and resides in the suburbs of Washington D.C. with his wife and two young children. He is an avid golfer and serves his community as a volunteer coach for numerous youth sports organizations in the area.
