According to the New York Times (NYT), many car manufacturers have begun to pause imports to the U.S., close down factories, and lay off autoworkers in response to recently implemented tariffs on imported vehicles. These tariffs are expected to increase the cost of vehicles and limit the type of cars that make it to the lot, leaving the consumer with less affordable car options. According to the NYT, the next set of tariffs for the auto industry is expected to come May 3 on auto parts.
