Despite a drop in consumer and business demand for lending, more banks have tightened their lending standards according to the Federal Reserve’s recent Senior Loan Officer Survey on Bank Lending Practices. The recently released data highlights that banks believe their standards are on the tighter end of the range since 2005. Banks also note that while demand for residential, commercial and consumer loans has dropped, demand for mortgage loans has increased.
