DBRS Morningstar is seeking an experienced full-time senior credit analyst to join its Financial Institutions Group in New York. The individual will have lead and backup analyst responsibilities on an expanding portfolio of Non-Bank U.S. financial institutions. The position will report to the U.S. Financial Institutions Group Non-Bank Team Leader. Candidates with minimum of seven to ten years of experience in financial institutions credit analysis gained from a rating agency or financial institution or related experience will be given priority.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be part of an experienced and growing team of professionals responsible for analyzing non-bank financial institutions in the U.S. The analyst’s primary responsibilities will be to act as a lead analyst in managing a portfolio of issuers, including ongoing analysis and surveillance, participate in rating committees and attend issuer meetings.
The analyst will be required to have both solid financial industry and specific issuer/financial sector knowledge; strong financial statement analytical abilities and spreadsheet skills, and strong research and writing skills. The analyst will also prepare rating committee presentations and publish press releases, rating reports and related topical research. Strong client facing skills will be expected.
Highly motivated candidates who are self-starters with a strong work ethic and who have the following skills will be paid particular attention: strong writing, quantitative and presentation skills; knowledge of the U.S. financial system; and experience working under pressure in a close-knit team in the field of financial institution analysis, bank ratings or bank debt capital markets.
Qualifications
• Undergraduate degree in business, finance or a closely related field.
• Masters degree and CFA are a plus
• Minimum of seven to ten years of experience in bank/and or financial institution credit analysis or directly related field
• Excellent business writing, communication and analytical capacity
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Team player with demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to travel as required
• Bloomberg skills a plus
