California Wine Country Virtual Wine Tasting Series
Benefiting the Structured Finance Foundation
The Structured Finance Foundation is pleased to present our California Wine Country Series, featuring an opportunity to participate in an exclusive virtual wine tasting experience with two of Napa Valley’s most esteemed wineries, Ehlers Estate and Sojourn Cellars. Our event offers the flexibility to participate in either or both tours, with several ways to support the Structured Finance Foundation at the individual or corporate level.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Structured Finance Foundation. The Structured Finance Foundation, an affiliate of the Structured Finance Association (SFA), seeks to support youth education, and partners with the University of the District Columbia and Mentor Foundation USA to develop and provide scholarship programs for students continuing or pursuing secondary education. Since 2017, the foundation has awarded 33 students over $690,000 in scholarships. The Structured Finance Foundation also connects scholarship winners to the significant network of the Structured Finance Association membership, which represents all sectors of the securitization market including issuers, investors, financial intermediaries, law firms, accounting firms, technology firms, rating agencies, servicers, and trustees.
In 2020, the Structured Finance Foundation established a fund to provide scholarships to eligible students attending the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), a public historically black university, who are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate finance, accounting or economics degree in its School of Business and Public Administration. The Structured Finance Foundation scholarship launched with an initial commitment of $80,000 and will grant two need-and merit-based scholarships annually in an amount up to $10,000 each starting in the Fall 2021 semester.
Ehlers Estate | Thursday, May 13 | 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM EDT
The story of Ehlers Estate is one of passion, patience, and hard work, intertwined like the tendrils of robust vines that have been part of the landscape here since the mid-1800s.
It was the lure of winemaking that tempted Bernard Ehlers to buy a small, dying vineyard in the late 1800s and embark on a quest to create the winery that continues to bear his name. He replanted his newly-acquired 10-acre vineyard, established the olive grove that still thrives today and in 1886 completed construction of the stone barn that is now our beautiful winery building. His original Bale Mill Winery continued to operate long after his death, run by his wife until the 1920s and then by successive new owners who took advantage of its prime location and unique terroir. Sojourn Cellars produces highly acclaimed Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Our hands-off winemaking style allows the character and personality of these special vineyard sites to shine through in the finished wines.
At Sojourn, every single decision we make, every vineyard we work with, every person on our small team, and every hour spent in the winery is done to deliver an extraordinary experience to our customers. We love sharing our wines through the approachable and memorable tasting experiences in our Tasting Salon in Sonoma, as well as sharing our wines with our loyal mailing list members, at our events and in our homes. There’s little in life that surpasses a shared experience with others over a very special glass of wine. In everything we do, our goal is to deliver uniquely memorable wine sojourns. Learn more.
