A report published following the August 29th Meeting of the Franco-German Council of Ministers highlighted “promoting securitisation” as one of the key initiatives among a series of policy imperatives from a broad spectrum of fields to enhance the cooperative agenda from France and Germany. Notably, the Franco-German finance ministers recommend the European Council define a position on the matter by the end of 2025. This push from the two biggest economies in the EU to the Council comes amidst broad efforts to revitalize and simplify the securitization market across the European Union. These efforts have been underway for some time, with key policy proposals issued in June.
