Congress and White House at Odds Over Institutional Investor Ban

Lawmakers are pushing back against the Administration’s pressure to include an institutional investor ban in either of the two recent bipartisan housing proposals. Hesitation stems from a lack of guidelines defining a “large institutional investor” and a “single-family home”. In a February 10^th hearing on U.S housing affordability, the House Financial Services Committee discussed three separate bills that would ban institutional investors.
